Wrigley Field was the setting for a historic football game between Northwestern and Illinois. I was one of many Chicago photographers on hand for the action, even shooting from inside the scoreboard. This game had many stories, starting with Wrigley Field itself. It was the first football game here in 40 years and the small dimensions of the field made only the west end zone safe for play. But perhaps the most surprising story was Mikel Leshoure who rushed for an Illini record 330 yards.
My work as a photographer was twofold. Earlier in the day, I worked with corporate sponsors, taking group shots on the field. I was then free to roam around, covering the game with unlimited access to the park. My goal was to capture not only the action but incorporate the distinguishing features of the park itself. The highlight for me, a life long Cub fan, was gaining access to the Wrigley Field Scoreboard (see below). I've been primarily working as a wedding photographer in Chicago for the past several years but it was good to be back at Wrigley as a photojournalist.
Here's some of my favorite photos and video!
