Early in my career as a photojournalist, I occasionally had the opportunity to photograph fashion shows. It's easy to photograph a fashion show since the subjects are literally performing for the camera and the lighting is usually pretty good too. In these photos, you can see the models posing on stage, pretty routine stuff. The second photo offers a more interesting perspective of the event from back stage. Here you can see silhouettes of the models through the projection of art on the background. These shows were always fun to shoot but getting a creative shot wasn't always easy. They did come in handy as a wedding photographer too.

Engagement Photos Chicago
Wedding season is almost here and it's time to start planing your engagement photos. Most clients have an idea of where they want to shoot, weather it's the Chicago Lakefront, Grant Park or perhaps the spot they actually got engaged. Others rely on my feedback and suggestions to maximize our time shooting. My wedding photography packages include an engagement session at a location of your choice. Here's some samples from other clients.

Rec's Hardware Store Chicago
Anyone who lived in the Gage Park neighborhood undoubtedly went to Rec's Hardware store on 55th street. I bought tire (monkey) patches for my bike on a monthly basis and took the house screens there to be replaced after throwing a ball or two through them. If you needed your hedge trimmers sharpened, a screw, nut or bolt of any size, you'd find it there.
When I visited the store again in 2000 as a photojournalist, Bob was still there with his partner helping out. He was losing his vision but still knew where everything in the store was.
I don't have too much information to share but I know he opened his hardware store shortly before or after WWII. He also served in WWII where he spent time in a German POW camp but escaped back to the allied lines. If you have more information or memories to share, please do so. When I'm not covering editorial assignments, you can find me working as a wedding photographer.
